I dont know how I will fit two turbos though...one might just have to work. I can easily substitute one better twin scroll turbo for those cheapo non divided flange T76s.

Yeah, they don't fit. E28 has enough space under the hood, but it's the shape that is the catch. Long but narrow space. What's worse in transmission tunnel :-/
But you must know better than me.

BTW i still want to drop a S85 in my old man's 535i. But i don't want to be a pioneer as i'm too lazy to do things for the first time. So it's really appreciated if you do this as the first person to successfully so i can follow your steps without doing the hard work Click here to enlarge

    Incredibly impressive.

I don't understand how people say the LS rods are weak when that motor was able to do 1000 hp? I guess it was all in the fuel quality for the boost.

Yeah the main objective was to see how far the motor would go til it went boom. So they used the max octane fuel available to ensure that it would be an actual failure of a part due to stress, not a lean condition.

Then I have to surmise all these other people blowing their motors at far lower power levels are having it happen due to the tune and fuel quality.

Exactly. And the motor probably had more in it. The stock gm coil pack started misfiring at 27psi and they were out of dyno time, so I bet the motor had more in it.

60 passes back to back in the 1000+hp range alone is a testament to the stoutness.

My question is, who in the NJ area can do a decent GM overhaul?

For some reason LS1 tech is not like bmw forums. Googling decent engine shops yields no results.

cool beans. I looked up ECS and they seem to be well loved across various Chevy platforms. Wonder if they could be bothered with a meager 5.3 overhaul

The ownership has changed, the son of one of the owners who was thought to be there is not. The owner who does the tunes is smug and disconnected, the have rested on their past achievements. Moreover they are heavily focused on the Camaro scene and less so on the Vette's. Add in come incompetence and poor planning/communication and you have a bad shop.

Damn, what did the 4.8 come in? I've been looking at 5.3's if I go with a vette, the only issue with them is the extra added weight on the front end of the car. The numbers are just awesome for what was done though.

im not even sure what the 4.8 came in...maybe Express van?

you can get an aluminum 5.3, the LQ9 out of some of the later Silverados. I think the 6.0 is cast iron, but the latest Escalade motors I think are aluminum now as well(dont hold me to it though)
