    Toyota GT86 (FR-S)

What a cool concept. Hopefully they follow through: http://www.autoblog.com/2012/05/16/g...r-toyota-gt86/

More power won't hurt but just not big on this car. Original concepts were cool, it transferred poorly to production.

Yeah and even their STI motor is fairly weakish. But, you can always throw a $#@!load of money at things and make them better.

Well you can make a toaster run 9s. But the point is, this car fails and toyota needs to stop being gay.

Did anyone notice the fact that this was twin-charged? I thought that was the cool part, not the car itself - although it reminds me of my RX-8, if it was only for more power, that car would be a very good track car... I feel the same about this - it handles good, and with some more power - would be a nice fun car for little money.

Not the best looking car - but not too bad either.

I like this car! I see it as a great first or second car for a young person on a budget. Its will be fun to drive, affordable, and the fact that it has such little power means it will be difficult to get in trouble with it. Think of it as the equivalent of a late 90's\early 2000's civic si or integra gs-r.

We should be embracing this car, not hating on it. Most people these days have never even driven a RWD car. This car makes them accessible and somewhat desireable to younger people.

No I've very happy Toyota/Subaru are doing this! Hell, I'd even like to have one! I just know from research and past experience, that split H4 is not very strong.

Just drove a stock one today in the rain, what a blast being able to drift around turns and push hard with no drama. In the dry its likely less fun but I enjoyed the drive today.

It's cool that it's entry level and whatnot but the car is cheap junk.

    ^This.

And... I want one! I want one enough to try to figure out if I could get one and keep my current obsession. I can't.

I had the opportunity to spend some real time in a 1984 MR2 back in 1985. By today's standards it was woefully underpowered, had no torq and really just doesn't have much to get excited about. To this day, I've never connected with a car more than I did that MR2. There is more to getting pinned to the seat with torq. Some cars are just a joy to be in and I really want to think the gt86 is one of em.

For the record, I've spent time in alot of cars. Nothing really exotic though. Recently I spent some time in a 2010 Boxter S and I didn't connect to that nearly as much as I did the MR2 (even though that is a VERY fine machine). I guess you can't beat character with numbers and you can't know character without experiencing it. Such a conundrum!
