    Fabspeed dynos the 991 Carrera S PDK on their Dynojet, 365 wheel horsepower - Underrated? Plus stock exhaust pictures

    As part of Fabspeed's exhaust development for the new 991 Carrera S, they get a baseline on their dynojet dyno. This is a brand new 991 Carrera S PDK with only 500 miles run on 93 octane. The vehicle is rated at 400 horsepower at the crank so this is a very nice result even with the higher drivetrain loss of a dual clutch transmission. To put it perspective, this is ~15+ wheel horsepower more than the 4.0 liter S65 V8 out of the E92 M3 will put out which is rated at 414 horsepower. Very impressive for a smaller motor (3.8 liter flat-6) with two less cylinders to be putting down this kind of power to the wheels in comparison especially when rated less at the crank.

    This is just the beginning of Fabspeed's work with the 991 as they will be doing a full exhaust including headers, an ecu tune, adding BMC filters, etc. We can't wait to see the kind of numbers the new Carrera S puts down with bolt on's. It will have the potential to get nice and deep into the 11's in the 1/4 mile naturally aspirated, impressive.

    Although nice numbers, it's not exactly a lineair powercurve.

    I'm trying to figure out what is accounting for that as it isn't Porsche's tuning.

    as a matter of fact the software is still 100% porsche OEM. We will be puilling the ECU to tune with EVOMSit after we get a few of the stock parts digitized.

    I dont know why the power curve looks like it does other than the dips are probaby where the car was shifting, i do not run our dyno so i am not as familiar as some of my guys in the shop so i may be totally off with that. Now that i see you guys are interested in this build i will keep you all updated on the progress and power gains Click here to enlarge

    Why would it be shifting on a pull through the rev range?

    I believe it is the stock software I just don't think the stock tune is that bad.

    your right, it wouldnt be shifting. We ran it 4 or 5 times and the results were identical as was the way it put down power on the dyno.. these newer cars can be a little funny on dynos but the numbers are right where porsche advertises them!

    Exhaust looks the same as a 997.2...so the current exhaust systems out there should bolt right up. From what everyone says, the biggest gains are had from changing the headers and the cats, that will give it a huge change in sound and give it F1-like tones. I wasn't a fan of the Sharkwerks muffler delete setup, it sounded just like a 996 with its farting noises on startup.

    This is going to be much nicer than the Sharwerks setup which is just a straight pipe.

    it is NOT identical to the .2 setup actually (i thought it would be too, had my guys "install" some .2 parts we had laying around and no go.. i am sure we can modify existing components, but with our ROMER digitizer and mandrel bender it makes more sense to start fresh and make a new fixture once completed.

    That's just the first I have found - I have seen "worse"... If you look at the HP on the 991 911 in this thread, check out how much power it is probably making in between gear changes (assuming it is only dropping 1500-2k)... It's making nearly peak power twice during the last few thousand revs... Maybe this is just the maximum extraction out of the motor - without a care of a flat torque curve? Just a guess - but agreed that it is shaped odd.

    It's actually a Mustang set to read like a dynojet. Weird, Fabspeed usually has really clean dynojet graphs.

    we dyno'd it at a neighbors shop on their MD, the customer wanted MD numbers for some reason so thats what we did for him.. and 0-60motorsports, this car is also getting the techart treatment Click here to enlarge it will actually be the first in the US with it! (techart is sending the stocking parts over by boat [8-10 weeks] and we are having them air freight ours in! so we will actually have the parts before techart USA haha)

    Interesting that they dyno that high on a Mustang Dyne yet there is a video of a 1M tuned pulling one of these multiple times on the highway, right? Are they using a multiplier?

    It probably has pretty crazy cams/heads which will give a cool torque curve like that. Or the dyno could be setup.... different. The variable valve stuff is more apparent on NA cars.

    Sometimes if the ECU is making corrections from heat/lack of airflow and fuel type it can mess with the torque curve, but that is definitely one of the weirder ones I've ever seen.
