    PP-Performance CLS63 M157 tune

Look at how this CLS63 preforms against an SLS equipped with Supersprint Headers (same set up as my car). Both cars are tuned by PP-Performance .The 620 HP is a dynomaha rating. The SLS is actually making more.

This M157 engine is a beast. Check it out:

AMG V8 showdown, M156 (M159) versus M157 - CLS63 AMG with PP-Performance Stage 2 tune races an SLS AMG with full exhaust

We are going to be seeing many more M156 versus M157 comparisons as more and more owners of both of these motors modify them. This is a great race but obviously the M159 (based on the M156) V8 in the SLS AMG is at a power disadvantage versus the factory twin turbo M157 motor. The SLS holds off the CLS 63 AMG early on thanks in part to its quick shifting transmission but eventually the power of the ecu tuned CLS 63 AMG shows up top and it walks away. The SLS only has a full Supersprint exhaust so it does quite well considering the horsepower and torque disparity. If the SLS had some boost as well, say from a Weistec supercharger, the result would likely be quite different and in the favor the SLS.

Just posted this short roll race in the "vs" section. Maybe should have put it in the "M157" section.

If it is MB versus MB or includes one of our vendors I would prefer for it to go in a related engine section then. No worries, I'll move it. The M157 scene is heating up.

    Nice runs.

Since the SLS only had exhaust, I'm surprised that tuned CLS63 TT didn't walk it harder. Took a long time for the CLS to get around the SLS.

SLS traps about 120 in 1/4 miles whereas a tuned CLS should trap 125 - 127. If fact, I think a tuned CLS Biturbo has trapped over 131.

Like to see a PP tuned CLS make a pass at a drag strip so we can get some real data.

    Helping you:

Very few views for that video seems it wasn't posted before. Think I might put it on the front page.

Not really, took it a long time to do so and the SLS was ahead until they got to very, very high speeds.

You are absolutely correct. A weistec supercharger in combination with the supersprint longtubes for an SLS is a GAME OVER against any AMG car.

the one Weistec worked on in Europe in conjuction with Kleeman (a video is posted in the M156 forum) made 722rwhp and 850 Nmwtq. Talk about a bullet :-)

I think the SLS in the video above kept up prettty good

Same here, it was actually ahead at real world speeds.

Exactly. the lighter weight helps acceleration. The video of the SLS posted above tapping 120mph is a stock car. an SLS with a tune + headers would make more no doubt.

Lighter car is greater for acceleration, but torque and HP play a big role at the top end

Exactly why terminal velocity is about HP and not weight.

The SLS already has the PP-Perfromance tune. I think sticky forgot to mention it in the article. It has Software+ Headers+ Xpipe.

This is how Power outpreforms weight :-)

I was unaware it had software, didn't see that in the vid.
