    GIAC 3.0 TFSI supercharged V6 software for B8 S4 and B8 S5 officially released, 417 AWHP on 100 octane - $1200

    Here is the official release for the GIAC B8 S5 and S5 3.0 direct injected supercharged V6 software. We reported on this software producing huge gains last week. GIAC in their product release comments on this somewhat saying the gains previously seen are among the highest a customer might get. It almost seems as if they are admitting the run was a glory run not applicable to what others might see. We think GIAC should get a few more runs and post graphs that may be a better representation of what most customers will get rather than knowingly putting up a graph they themselves confirm is one of the highest they have seen for tune with intake on 91 pump.

    We suggested that such high peak numbers will not be seen on a dual clutch transmission and GIAC would seem to agree as they posted a dual clutch graph but the image is broken on their site. When (or if) they fix it we will update this post with the graph for the S-Tronic/DSG car.

    The tune actually ended up making 14 wheel horsepower more on 100 octane than it did on 91 octane. 417 all wheel horsepower from a tune, exhaust, and race gas is very healthy indeed and makes the vehicle much more serious of a BMW N54 rival for tuning.

    The tune needs to first be bench flashed before a handheld flashloader can be used with it.

    • Improved wheel horsepower and torque gains at 65 - 90 HP & 30 - 40 Ft. / Lbs. of torque, on 91 octane fuel.
    • Estimated wheel gains as high as 105 horsepower and 79 Ft. / Lbs. of torque in some areas of the power band.
    • Properly recalibrated Air/Fuel Ratios.
    • Improved throttle response for a drive-by-cable system feel.
    • Raised speed limiters to factory redline in final drive gear
    • Until further notice, included stock, race and valet modes, in addition to a GIAC Handheld Program Switcher with purchase.
    • Initial flash must be bench flashed. All flashing updates after that can be performed through the OBD2 port.

    Does this include a pulley swap? I dont see how they can get all that power increase without touching boost?

    Exactly, Audi wanted more power down low so they upped the boost overall. They then put in a bypass to bleed boost as rpm increases thereby limiting peak power. The bypass is of course...electronically controlled, just like the wastegates on the N54.

    APR has always been conservative with their tuning, while GIAC seems to always push the margin.

    Did the B8 S4 in question have the light, forged HRE monobloks for the before and after runs, or only the afters?

    Those seem pretty large and I doubt they are much lighter than stock with larger tires as well.

    That picture was on the GIAC site but I do not know if that is the manual S4 in question.
