Weistec Stage I M159 Mercedes SLS 750 Supercharger System officially released - 638 wheel horsepower, $27,999

Here it is, what everyone anticipated was right on the heels of the Weistec M156 superchargers, the Weistec Mercedes SLS AMG 750 Supercharger Kit. This supercharger is the same 2.3 liter twin screw unit used on the M156 motors however the setup on the SLS is much stronger. 638 wheel horsepower for a Weistec M159 SLS 750 supercharger vs. 538 for a Weistec Stage I+ M156 supercharger. A 100 wheel horsepower difference is nothing to sneeze at and anything over 600 wheel is simply incredibly powerful.

The changes the M159 sees versus the M156 account for the majority of the difference between the two. No doubt people will also notice the difference in price between the M156 and M159 supercharger setups and that is to be expected with different tuning, a smaller market, and necessary hardware changes to accommodate the SLS. 638 wheel horsepower, a curb weight in the 3600 range (lighter than any factory Mercedes with the M156), and a dual clutch transmission make for one of the strongest performance platforms in the Mercedes world today. Oh, and yes, CARB approved.

A great job by Weistec yet again, specs below and product page is here: http://www.weistec.com/m159sc.html

I have no objection. It really is up to Weistec but go ahead and post for now.

Incredible work Weistec. I love how aesthetically, everything looks nearly 100% OEM. I can't wait to see what times these cars put down on the 1/4 and 60-130.

Aren't the M159 heads already a significant improvement over the M156?

What may be interesting to consider as well is if the SLS Black Series heads will be a big improvement and if they can be retrofitted onto either the M159/M156.

Probably difficult to find an SLS owner willing to supercharger and drag race. I better figure out how to become one...

Actually in the thread for the M156 NA Tune, the details of the package were listed only on the dyno graph image - namely the aftermarket filters and what not. There was no other text outside the image that detailed what type of filters, charcoals, etc... So in that thread, I suggested that you should list the package details in some type of text outside the dyno graph image, maybe somewhere in a text area in the first post of the thread so that it looks more organized and provide more details. Then you said in your opinion having all the details of the package listed only on the graph is sufficient. However, in this thread you did exactly what I requested. You listed all the details of the package in a text area outside the dyno graph image altogether. LOL, for a minute there I thought you did it as a joke for what we did in the other thread Click here to enlarge

Does anyone know if Weistec is planning on developing a Stage 2 for the SLS as well or if they are stopping at Stage 1?

No, what was done was the features as provided by the tuner were listed and this was done in the exact same manner as before if you read the product pages. There was no difference in listing anything on my part.

The dynograph still lists important details I hope people do not miss like the octane quality of the fuel and that the baseline is with a completely stock car which has nothing to do with features of the kit that were listed.

It's an interesting question and for now all that can be said is this is the complete SLS offering. You will notice there is no Stage I nomenclature in the post, only SLS 750.

So they must've changed their style on their end then because it is definitely different. They must've read some of the comments and acted upon them. I really hope they weren't reading the rest of the gibberish we created in their other thread, as I feel bad that the whole thread was ruined in the midst of all the different arguments back and forth. I think 99% of the posts were not even about them.

And that was exactly my opinion from the other thread: list a small summary on the graph but always provide a list of details in a nice organized structure outside the graph Click here to enlarge

I believe both were done both times and both the graph and the features list contain important information with what they are associated. The main thing is to have as much information as possible and what works well for one reader may not work well for all readers. Regardless, glad you like the way this was listed.

The addition of a nice set of long tube headers and an aggressive race tune would probably put this baby around 800 hp if not more. I'm really hoping that one of the supercharger customers will eventually crave more power and push Weistec for the next phase Click here to enlarge

Are the M159 headers significantly different from the M156 from the factory?

No last time there was no mention of the aftermarket filters and/or charcoals anywhere except on the dynograph image. There was no Package details list like we have here. Either way, it's all good.... it was just some suggestions and it looks like they actually took them into consideration. This is usually a good indication that the company has a solid customer service foundation. They are honestly doing great things for the M156/M159 platform. I, for one, am glad they haven't abandoned the platform for the new TT engine and that they continue to push forward Click here to enlarge
