it was created, in theory, to appeal to true driving enthusiasts. I agree with most of this, for example:

The article raises an interesting point and one I have eluded to at points here and on other sites... Its easy to go buy a GTR and then point & squeeze it to silly acceleration times. For some of us the pleasure is in shifting your own gears, apex in, trail braking and rev matching on our own. The rev match feature on the 370Z while novel takes away a skill set that a small subset of us have. I could go on and on about this stuff....

That being said some technology has allowed us far more efficient power and drivability than ever before which you can't deny as well. Finding a car with the right balance of a tradition FR layout, limited traction and stability controls with near 50/50 weight balance and reasonable power while being affordable is very rare. Few cars really hit all those marks nowadays you can get any or all of them from many vehicles but the cost is usually indicative of the luxury.

True but how many drivers really turn it off or know how to match revs or shift without the clutch at all was more or less my point. The technology makes any man/woman sound like a hero was my general thought.

we don't want it in the first place imo. we want the manufacturers to pass those savings on to us, or spend that money elsewhere.

Here's what I was gonna say... I was at one my Toyota dealers yesterday and was fondling his Red FRS 6spd and got a quick ride in it and really really liked it. TRD is going to offer a supercharger for the car almost immediately when it comes out from what he said. The kicker for them is this, Subaru is going to turbo the car as a STI version in the 2nd year or so. TRD is mad as the guesstimate around 240-250 HP total with the small blower & low boost setup. While the Turbo BRZ will at a min net 260hp with the ability to tune it. Greddy & HKS are working on turbo kits as we speak with each having 3 cars each in hand (stick and auto's) in addition to your suspension, brakes, exhausts and so on.

Plus according to my guy the black one seen at the Cars & Coffee event in Cali is wearing STI calipers front & rear that effectively just bolt on. This car should prove to be a tuners dream and the next 240SX for all intents and purposes. I will be riding one for sure as a DD (my plan is to go with STI calipers all around painted black, 19" wheels/tires for 3 seasons and stocks for winter, coil overs and a TRD blower setup) it won't be blazing quick in a straight-line but it will be hell fun for the back roads/auto-x/road course.

I really don't think rev matching software is all that cost intensive. Best to give the owner the option of using it or not like Nissan did.
