it does look nice, but i wouldnt get it because its not an easy 'upgrade' to zr1 numbers. although the engine layout is the same, some of the internal mechanisms are made from different materials. i believe the zr1 has titanium rods, valves and pistons while the v motor gets a lower grade metal, thus the detuning, to make sure they dont go past the limit.

Yes, this is correct, to keep the ZR-1 on its pedestal the CTS-V gets some cast bits. However, it still has a good amount of room to tune.

Thanks, I'll check it out. Don't spend as much time with the mags as I used to.

CTS-V/LSA has 1.9L TVS, ZR1/LS9 has 2.3L that along with the larger more efficient intercooler are the biggest difference in being able to make more power for the Vette, holding it is a diff story.

My biggest complaints about the CTS-Vs are the brakes and body roll. Brakes feel spongy and non responsive to me, maybe SS lines and better pads could take care of this. As far as handling it simply rolls too much for me in corners, low/medium and high speed. Again probably a fix on the market so take it fwiw. Definitely a lot of straight line potential for minimal $ with factory FI.

Call me crazy but I think the wagon is the best looking CTS variant out there...

This is exactly correct, but what about the cast pistons and lower compression ratio?

C/R would play into total numbers for sure, but with lower static C/R you can add more timing so what's given with hardware can be taken back with software. The cast pistons will hold whatever power the 1.9L puts out as long as the motor isn't detonating; so no real power to be had there unless you throw a larger blower on that could potentially metallurgically overtax the slugs.
