    SRT-10 Viper Powered Challenger Coming?

How can you not like this? With 600 hp from an 8.4 liter I'd be all over this:

Call me stupid, I probably am, but isn't 8.4L enough for "Oh my God" amounts of power? I feel like that much displacement should me a metric ass-load more power than 600 hp. Sounds like a big diesel that makes 600 hp and 1872361458737 ft-lbs of torque.

I bet it sounds mean though.

Well, hp per liter really does not matter. This motor will push you back in your seat from 1000 rpm on, hard. Tons of torque! Think of it this way, with all that displacement there is plenty of more power in there as well. Additionally, one can add boost to this motor and it will produce power that can alter the rotation of the earth.

    ^

That's true and I agree completely. Although, for me, I sometimes wish American car companies didn't default to displacement for power.

I still can't wait to see if this is for real. This engine and even mild boost could remove pavement.

It is a tradeoff. Since their motors are bigger, cheaper, and less sophisticated they are easier to work on and have a bigger aftermarket. There is a lot I like about their strategy plus they don't give you tiny motors that sound like angry beehives when revved, just raw, big motor torque.

Hopefully they do it, I want one.

Thats very true. I had a '95 Cobra, last year of the 5.0. I wish I still had it so I could build it into a monster.
