    Renntech 335d diesel tune

Just emailed my conncetion at RENNtech they have 335d to be programmed and dyno this weekend, he'll keep me posted at what they might expect out of it and eventually give a price, he stated that price is around $1k-1500 with 24 mo warranty here is his quote

"Warranty is 24 months should get about the same power, but will not know until we do one this weekend, price is going to be between 1000-1500" Sorry guys cannot disclose his name

    RENNtech ECU mod

Being a former Mini owner for over 9 yrs. My car was modified at RENNtech with Mini-Madness as the seller. The car ran great for many years and kicked some arse here in the island. I've contacted RENNtech and they quoted the following:

Warranty is 24 months should get about the same power, but will not know until we do one this weekend, price is going to be between 1000-1500

now mind you I had written to them that the JB for DIESEL was out and this what they stated to me also

We are going to reprogram the ECU just as we do on the BMW 550 twin turbo engine, we just need to get a local owner of a BMW diesel so that we can write the program

Well, the proper way of tuning DIESEL it's more air flow & more injection time; instead of manipulating sensor to just run higher fuel pressure & tricking air flow sensor, which DDE ends up correcting at all times.

By using a 'tuning piggyback'. It will provide false readings in MPG, increased emission since it manipulates the entire RPM including idle range, thermal efficiency will be decreased since no injection timing to richen car up, engine protection activation, etc.

Long term, it could possibly damage the expensive high fuel pressure pump, piston scuffs (piston grows) since engine now runs hotter due to lean mixture.

Also, other disadvantage with piggybacks it's cannot increase Vmax, Nmax, less intrusive stability control, engine thermal protection, etc.

Now guys I dont want a pissing contest her OK!!!! lets be adults and discuss this, starting with Terry@BMS, I want straight talk no BS, remember I used their product before and I somewhat loyal to it , I just want to see what can be best for me ok amigos!!Click here to enlarge

Jeez....for the other options out there, it better pull some numbers above and beyond. It'd need to be a compelling upgrade to justify that price, from my perspective.

Usually RENNtech does not go "WILD" if not moderately but their products are of excellent quality, I talked to my sources and he stated that warranty WILL not be more than 24 monthsClick here to enlarge

Most tuners don't give you any warranty so that is nice.

doesnt usually running lean in a diesel not affect it? It usually lowers temps because its designed to operate on a lot of air and little fuel.

Usually running more timing on the injection pump raises in-cylinder pressures and skyrockets EGTs, both of which are bad because you are dumping a whole $#@!load of fuel..

Well amigos I have finally recieved the dyno runs for the RENNtech 335d ECU flash. This what they wrote to me and I quote "this ecu upgrade will be $1100 plus shipping, would need your ECU".

Here are the ranges they gave me

    Max Power = 304.08 Max Torque = 421.70

    Max Power = 311.54 Max Torque = 432.05

I asked for permission to upload their Dyno runs, Im sorry guys I am ethically inclined not to disclose unless given permission

    I'll keep you posted!!!

I see no reason why this would not apply as well to that vehicle.

Renntech 335d Diesel tune hits 311 horsepower to the wheels and offers 24 month warranty for $1100

Renntech is branching out to other markets from their traditional Mercedes tuning and they have several ECU tunes now available for BMW vehicles. The Renntech 335 diesel tune puts down an impressive 311 horsepower to the wheels along with a tremendous 432 wheel torque. The ECU has to be sent in for the flash unless one is local. A 24 month warranty is also included in the $1100 price. This tune should be applicable to the X5 diesel as well in the United States.

I believe the E90 335d was available in the US market in MY2009. No manual transmission available. Have heard the stock torque is really nice. See them frequently around where I live. This seems like a good download with a warranty.

I think you are right! BMW released efficient dynamics diesels engines M73N2 sequential turbo BlueTec. The USA was introduced in 2009 for models E90 335d sedan & E70 X5 xDrive 35d till now. The only available transmission it's the steptronic transmissions 6spd.

Nice gains. That must be fun to drive around with all that monster torque. It's too bad they don't offer a way of flashing the car yourself and more power like some other tuners may provide, especially at that price.Regardless, I would love to drive around in a tuned 335d and get close to 40mpg on the highway, hehe.

Who lets you flash the 335d yourself?
