    2011 Mustang GT Turbo

Was just browsing the net... found this. Fastlaneturbo did this build.

not sure too about what the specs are but here is a video. seems very close to the s65 in terms of boost vs horsepower. This thing has a lot more torque though.

The new 5.0 liter engine from Ford is proving to be a hot commodity among aftermarket shops. By itself the engine makes 412 horsepower and 390 ft-lbs of torque. Let a bunch of aftermarket specialists at it and you better be prepared for some seriously impressive torque numbers. And the engine is surprising even the most optimistic engineers.

Fastlane, who we told you about a few weeks ago, has gotten their turbocharged 2011 5.0 Mustang on the dyno. Get ready for this; it made 543 horsepower and 521 ft-lbs of torque at the wheels, on just 6 psi. This is an otherwise stock engine!
Fastlane was able to get its hands on one of the first 2011 5.0 Mustangs, and they have been hard at work since day one. “We’ve been working night and day like fiends,” says Nick Field, a dyno tuner over at Fastlane. When we first reported on Fastlane’s turbo, they were thinking they might make 530 horsepower at the wheels through their turbo system. We can only imagine their surprise when the numbers came out to 543 horsepower at the wheels. That is through a six-speed automatic transmission (which they put in 3rd gear) and a stock rear end.
Why just 6 psi you ask? Well the new 5.0 has a very high compression of 11.0:1. Forced induction is a fan of low compression engines (usually around 9.0:1 or even lower) which allows the engine to run higher psi. For an otherwise stock engine though, those are some great numbers. Fastlane makes a similar kit for the 2010 Camaro, which through an automatic transmission makes around 530 whp. That 5.0 looks better and better every day.
Since posting that first video though, Fastlane has upped the boost to 10 psi. The result was around 600 horsepower at the wheels and similar torque numbers. “We’ve learned to vent the pressure through the engine, letting us run more boost,” says Nick. “The 5.0 engine definitely has a different computer, and it is letting us do things previous computers didn’t.” For example, Nick cites the variable valve timing as letting them swing the cam around and vary the lift and duration moreso than engines prior to it. “This engine is sick,” says Nick. He thinks that when they crank it up to 15 or 16 psi, they might see as much as 800 horsepower…on an otherwise stock motor. “These heads are amazing, they flow so well that we’re not sure we can even find a limit yet.
“Right now we’re just driving it around, feeling it out,” he says. In the meantime, they are also working on a built 5.0 engine with ported heads and different cam grinds. “The stock mass air sensor can flow as much air as we need, which is a huge plus.” Still, for now this turbo kit is in-house only, and Nick admits they have a lot more to learn about this engine. “It is still so new so we have a lot to figure out. The variable valve tables are very complicated so we’re still trying to figure out how to get the most out of this engine.” Nick says that when they do figure everything out though, “It’s gonna be evil.” No doubt Nick, no doubt.

Dont sleep that 5.0 motor is a monster even when running boost with that comp ratio... Nice kit

These guys(Hellion) make some of the best Mustang turbo setups out there, their Hell Raiser kit is insane as well. Here's a link to their site and few of cars running the Compound Boost setup!

Its so stupid, they did that to me too when I was looking for a car couple months ago. I said I want to feel the driveability and how the car feels... are you $#@!ting me? I got to test drive a 335i like nothing.

What kills me is that the domestic scene has such a huge aftermarket that makes this soooooo cheap for them. I mean you don't even have to spend 10k on the car to make it a street terror from the underworld.
I mean looking at this $#@! just makes me sick to my stomach thinking that I bought the wrong car.

I test drove the new 5.0 automatic. And it had better visability than the 5th gen Camaro. The steering felt pretty light but I didn't drive fast with any significant turning so I'm sure the steering gets heavier weight with increased speed, but I didn't get to test that.

The acceleration from a stop was pretty good for stock, although I wasn't really trying to do anything crazy. The salesman couldn't have cared less what I was doing though.

I think the car has a lot of potential but I can't get into the looks of the front of the car and the interior design is really ugly to me. The DIC with the retro look is hard for me to stomach. But, for the performance per dollar that this car provides I would drive one.

    These turbo setups sound awesome.

I went to 2 Ford dealerships to test drive it. The first one let me do it the other one was giving me B.S. too much traffic, come back tomorrow, what do you drive now, 335i? Meh this is M3 performance here blah blah blah.

The interior is beyond cheap with the silver plastic everywhere, I looks like it came out of a Ford Fusion, just nasty looking dials and radio/console interface. The car was pretty loud and I was driving it pretty mildly as it only had 250 miles on it, revved it out to about 3k to feel the power. The steering input is very good on these cars, they go around the turn like nothing is in the way, much better than my 335i (non sport). Another thing that is crap, they have the "interior power package" where everything is supposed to be powered, seats included. But it's not true, the driver seat is all power, movement on rails and back support. If you get the package the passenger seat is powered rails but the back support is still the stupid handle...I mean really? I got spoiled.

The short throws on the manual transmission are very very short, don't need aftermarket parts to upgrade that. A couple of times I grinded the gears on it thinking it was my fault but I looked into it and the crappy made M82 is at fault. Maybe the later models will get the Tremec but maybe not. At the time none of this stuff was a deal breaker for me I was going to pull the trigger but I couldn't agree on the price of the car so I walked.

Wow, that sums it up about the mustang.

I felt the same way about my GTI compared to this cobalt. so cheap.. I guess I was being spoiled too haha.

American cars in general dont have the interiors their euro counterparts do... However overall the interior is pretty decent but could certainly be better in terms or feel/visual look and quality. But that motor at 7000rpm makes up for it with a lovely sound. That KB 3.6L blower is the biggest one they offer and will push 700whp on an otherwise stock motor.

I maintain the Mustang is a serious performance bargin/DD over many cars above and under it in price.

The new Mustangs are straight up badass. I have a customer I see once every 2 weeks that has a Procharged 2011 GT. The thing sounds and pulls like a monster. He makes 600whp on pump gas on a conservative pulley setup. He said he could make it a lot more powerful but he never had a car half this fast so he needs to get used to it lol.

I drove it around at low speeds and it feels like a stock 'Stang.

It's really hard to beat a turbo V8 mustang. When they take off the SC and single turbo the GT500 they just make retarded power. I think they are running in the 7's now? Anyway, it just isn't fair.
