Maserati SUV coming with HEMI power

So this Chrysler/FIAT thing is producing some introducing things:

According to a recent report, the upcoming Maserati SUV will feature a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine from the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.

Top Gear says the crossover will adopt the HEMI as part of a cost cutting move to make the model more profitable. While this seems plausible, Sergio Marchionnne has previously stated the SUV would have a Ferrari-sourced engine.I

Some interesting things you mean? Anyways, an Italian car with an HEMI??? Puke!!! IMO. I dont care how powerful this engine is. You just don't put an American Muscle engine in an Italian car, that's just wrong, specially a well known expensive italian luxury car company.

I agree but they just want money. Can't justify developing their own motor for it.

No doubt these are bad times for many automaekrs. Just seeing this move is enough testament. A proud Italian automaker putting an american engine in their vehicle. Sad....

They might as well just stick a Maserati badge on a Durango?

that would be really lame, a Maserati badge worth more than the whole Dodge lineup.

Funny because Marchionne was previously (when Fiat initially acquired Chrylser) repeatedly quoted as saying how unecessary the Hemi line of engines were and that they would be phased out when the purchase was complete. Case in point of not opening your mouth before you understand your target demo.
