Thumbs up Very impressed with VW

Today I went to go look at the mk6 gti and 2012 CC. I must say I am very impressed with both. I did not get to drive them due to time constraints but the fit and finish on both cars are very high quality Click here to enlarge I am seriously looking into getting a CC or GTI. Just thought id throw the word out there. For around 30k I can get a 2012 CC with navigation, bluetooth, "R-Line". The GTI i can get fully loaded. Just thought I would throw it out there. I just helped a buddy put an intercooler in a CC yesterday, and I'm growing quite fond of it. The TSI motor is one of those motors where you change the oil and filters and that's it. No timing belt or other crap. If you baby them, you can get 38MPG!

The CC comes with the 2.0 210hp turbo 4cyl "tsi" and if you want to spend 40k you can get the 280hp v6 with 280hp

APR's big ass intercooler. The guy that owns it had some money saved up for a tune, but since they're taking their sweet time releasing one, he's doing the supporting mods first. I'll be helping him with a Eurojet downpipe next!

The FWD really isn't too bad with the Passats. They have 235mm tires that are just 10mm bigger than the GTI, but that really seems to help. The longer wheel base might also help keep weight on the fronts when accelerating too.
I'm pretty sure that we won't be getting anymore VR6 engines in the Golf/Jetta, but TSI is much stronger and efficient with just a tune. It's a shame that it doesn't sound as nice, but the TSI doesn't sound as bad as the N54 at idle, and with an exhaust it isn't terrible.

But the VR6 when boosted completely trounces it, right?

What VW's have the VR6 currently?

Yup, it's the Golf R. It's like the previous R32 models, but with the S3's 2.0T. Manual only, two and four door coming in 2012.

    That's pretty sweet.

Don't understand why they don't offer the GTI with AWD as an option.

The GTI has always been FWD, I guess they're just sticking to their roots. The Golf R is a AWD GTI anyway with just a little more body kit. That's about it, well that and the extra 56-65 HP.

It might be waiting for, but it's going to be $5k-$10K more than the GTI. The GTI has a more advanced engine that requires less maintenance. It's almost a toss up for me. I'll probably end up calling it quits in the performance game and just get a TDI and cruise!
