    • Built motor 900+ hp Nissan GTR vs. stock McLaren 720S

It is as if someone read our minds. Watching the McLaren 720S leave everything in its dust is getting a bit boring. The car is just so fast in stock form (running 9.7 @ 147) that there are no real challengers as far as stock cars are concerned and it is going to take something stout from the aftermarket to challenge it.

Modified Nissan GTR's can range from 600-2500 horsepower. There are plenty of GTR's that can give the 720S more than it can handle.

The one in the video chosen here has a built motor with ugpraded turbos and on a SuperFlow dyno is making 813 whp compared to the 720S 691 whp. Very close to Dynojet output:

The GTR obviously is all wheel drive and comes with a weight penalty of roughly 650 pounds.

      So how does it do?

Just ok. The 720S still pulls from a roll and opens up a lead it holds. The GTR maybe claws back some inches but it loses decisively.

The GTR will up the boost and they will run again. If we were to predict what it takes it looks like the GTR will need about 900 whp to take the 720S. That's insane.

The 720S is just insane....the light weight combined with sandbagged HP makes it straight crazy.

The best way to spend $300K....

It would be cool to see someone do a carbon tubbed 911 Turbo, It would surely bring the weight down to sub 3000lbs then it could at least compete with the weight of the 720S

No need. Just grab a 911 T which is already 50 pounds lighter than the 720S.

Wonder how the 911 GT2 RS would hold up.

If any street platform will smoke this 720S it will be the GTR, there are turn-key packages built to perform all the way down to the 7s.

No iteration of the 991 can out-trap a 720S right now, especially not the 3.0L versions.

We just had a member on the stock internals run 147 in a 991.1 Turbo S.

The gt2 rs will be at about 650whp and the same weight so it probably still won't be enough. All these pig heavy cars will need at least 1000whp to compete. McLaren is no joke.

Definitely not. Plus more aero drag.

I know but that still doesn’t beat the 720S. The platform is still not advanced enough , very few if any 991 Turbos will beat this 720S, especially not the 3.0L T versions. The only Turbos that can out-roll the 720S are the 997.1 Turbos with large blowers ....

The gt2 rs wasn't designed for roll/drag racing in mind, It was made to be fast on a track and its aero was designed for high speed stability and adding aero grip hence why its currently the fastest production car to lap the ring.

720S is making 700rwhp, whereas the gt2 is making 700 crank hp, hopefully it makes more but preliminary testing has the 720S ~1s faster to 124mph....

        Power to weight folks....

        720S $300k
        700whp
        2900lbs
        4.1lb/whp

        991 Turbo S $180k
        500whp
        3500lbs
        7lb/whp

A 991 turbo s would need 854whp to match the 4.1lb/whp number of the 720S

thats a tall order Iím not sure how many 991 turbos are putting down 850whp, however considering you have $120k for mods to spend over the $180k msrp, I would say itís very doable.

If 720s performance is the target, for the money to make a 991 that fast you might as well get a 12c+mods, or a 570+mods.

No but it can run with one in a driver's race. Pretty impressive for stock motor and stock trans.

Built motor and bigger turbos will improve so it can be done.

Plus a 991 ran 8's recently in the 160's so what are you talking about?

The 3.0 obviously is brand new but it will also eventually make similar power.

We litearaly have a member matching the 720S in his 991.1 Turbo S.
