    • Supercharged Huracan gets a reality check from a stock McLaren 720S

You may remember an article from last month where a 720S and a supercharged Huracan race. BoostAddict called it out as a worthless 'Amateur Hour' comparison as it was skewed to give the Huracan the appearance of being the faster car. Frankly, the video insulted everyone's intelligence.

The cars are compared again and this time rather than short bursts on the street where the Huracan jumps and then proclaims victory there are some proper rolling runs that allow the cars to stretch their legs.

Be warned, you have to sit through a bunch of bullshit before getting to the actual runs. For some reason the guy making the first video below thinks people care about him getting sick. Nobody cares.

Skip the 6:55 mark to get a real roll race or just watch the DragTimes edit below it. The Huracan gets a jump and the positive displacement blower certainly gives it an advantage down low. The McLaren 720S easily catches up though and just blasts by it. Run after run shows it really is no contest

Have any of these VF Lambos put up track times that prove they're running as advertised?

Yeah there was a test of a 141 trap speed and 9 second pass I believe.

        Here it is:

Haven't seen any slips for whatever reason.

The McLaren is an absolute rocket above 100mph!

For comparisons sake, it's making 691whp @ 7,000rpm, and weighs more
than 300 lbs. less than the Huracan.

Our VF800 System made 687whp @ 8,300rpm on the exact same dyno.
(this was on a 2017 Audi R8 V10 PLUS; which is the same 5.2L V10 motor)

Once you turn this into a "roll race", starting at 50 mph, every possible
advantage swings in favor of the 720S.

        Power / Weight / Aero / Gearing / Etc...

A race from a dig will keep the Huracan out front to approx. 120-130mph
as the 0-60 and 0-100 times are noticeably quicker. it will take a 1/4 mile
or more for the McLaren to reel in the Lamborghini, and it will eventually
        overtake it.

The important thing to note here is that BOTH of these cars are in HyperCar
territory at a fraction of the cost. Each was designed for a different purpose
and each excels in it's respective category.

        This is all 100% correct.

That's why it's lame the guy put out a video saying he beat a McLaren 720S when obviously physics say he can't.

He did beat him fair and square in those conditions though.
(regardless of how reckless and sloppy it was, he got the win.)

Part of the game when racing is deciding the terms of the race.

If this were a 1/4 mile challenge from a dig, the 720S is definitely
beatable. In a 60-130 challenge, the odds are still close, but tip in
the direction of the 720S. If the terms extend beyond 130mph, we
can see that the 720S clearly becomes the favorite.

Definitely true but it was obviously misleading (and reckless) as to the 720S capabilities. I don't have respect for people who mislead those who don't know any better or will believe what he is saying for clicks. That's garbage and certainly not helpful.

Why 1/2-A$$ it with a supercharger when you can get a UR Turbo kit and be done with it. Cost should not be an issue in this case as we are talking a Huracan $$ and the dad is a billionaire. Not worth the 6-8mph pickup in trap speed vs the 15mph+ pickup in trap speed even with the basic UR kit.... there are plenty of turbo’d GTRs and UR Lambos gunning around FL and CALI that will blow both these cars away....

I wouldn't call it half assing it.

First of all, yes, much cheaper. Secondly, tuned on the stock ECU. Check out the driveability of the kits and the supercharged car feels much more OEM.

Come on man it's like 13 mph with no turbo lag.

Kinda sucks buying a lambo, adding/paying for a supercharger kit, and still getting beat by STOCK Competition.

Ferrari, Lambo need to up the ante, these Mclaren numbers can not be ignored , even by diehards.... wait till that electric beast makes it out on the streets ....

The 720S is wrecking everything. No shame.

As you mentioned above, this is stock competition. We all know modded cars will beat it. The fact it is beating everything stock on the road, modded supercars, and holding it's own against highly modded cars is what is impressive.

The 720S is a great achievement performance-wise and it has a sharp Mclaren look. That being said, I would still like to see one getting beat lol

It'll happen. In the mean time, it would be fun to see one run off from a "fast" car. Watching it put train lengths on a stock m3 or Corvette would be worth a laugh and demonstrate how fast this car is to the the casual sports car fan.
