Mercedes-AMG 'Project One' supercar aims for 1000+ horsepower with street legal Formula 1 style hybrid powerplant
The Mercedes-AMG 'Project One' is shaping up to be something spectacular. If you have ever wanted a modern Formula 1 powertrain in a street car consider your wish granted. Head of AMG Tobias Moers shared a few details at the Detroit auto show along with teaser photos.
The vehicle looks almost like a Le Mans prototype. If you did not know this was developed as a street car you would practically guess the car is just for the racetrack.
Well, it does indeed share some motorsport inspired parts. Supposedly the Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 motor will be modified for use in the Project One. Yes, that means a turbocharged 1.6 liter V6 hybrid drivetrain:

Incredible. They are actually taking their Formula 1 technology and giving you a chance to buy it for road use. Well, maybe not you in particular as the price is expected to be over $2.5 million and less than 300 will be built.
