    • GM internal documents reveal DOHC 6.2 liter LT5 motor for 2018 Corvette

GM accidentally published some internal info that the internet quickly found which they have since removed. The internet does not forget and the information quickly spread out. This LT5 motor will be 6.2 liter of displacement and the DOHC (dual overhead cam) design is a departure from the current LT1 and LT4 architecture.

That means it will of course not be a pushrod OHV (overhead valve) design. That also means it will not have the same compact packaging as the new LT5 engine will likely be taller.

However, the LT5 should be more efficient. Right now we are all just speculating though as the aspiration and application is unknown although turbocharging or supercharging are not listed in the description on the document. A twin turbo LT5 rumor has floated around for a while.

There is also the question of the platform application. Will this be the motor for the upcoming C7 ZR1 or the new mid-engine C8 Corvette?

There are many questions marks here. We'll have to wait on details from GM themselves.

Is this for the big wing C7 running around? Could also go in the Z28. There is a Camaro GT4 due for next racing season, you would think they would want this 6.2L dohc engine in it. The GT4 class is heating up, with the new GT350 GT4, 570S GT4, M4 GT4, AMG GT GT4, Cayman GT4.

All though the "Y" designates Corvette.

Side note looks like another car is getting the LT4. "K" is an omega chassis code. So CT6 is getting the LT4, or some yet to be released omega car?

I'm leaning toward the mid-engine Corvette but then engine what does the ZR1 get?
