    • Ford to require 2017 GT buyers to apply for purchase consideration - Brand loyalty a factor

The new Ford GT is going to be a very limited car. Ford already stated production would be under 1000 units. The price is expected to be in the mid 400,000 range if not higher. If those factors do not deter you from a purchase Ford is also requiring potential buyers to apply for purchase consideration.

That means even if you have the money you may not get one. This information all comes from a Reddit user who claims to work at Ford. So far, Ford has not refuted any of this info and rumor is they even have confirmed it:

Ford will introduce a unique ordering process for the all-new Ford GT supercar, with the program commencing in early 2016.
Ford GTs will be assigned based on a customer application process, offering a personalized experience for every Ford GT buyer.
Anyone can apply; priority will be given to loyal Ford customers including current Ford GT owners.
Applicants selected through the process will be assigned a car by Ford and complete their purchase through a Ford GT certified dealership of their choice.

Part of this is to deter people from flipping the car for a quick buck. It is going to be in very high demand and if the previous GT is anything to go by it will only appreciate in value.

Now to find $450k lying around somewhere...

Put in an application for a ford...or drive the next zr1, gtr, all most any Ferrari/ lambo, or wiesmann mf5. Tough choice

Honestly, if you are in the market for this car none of those you suggested will fit the bill.

This is as much an awesome car as it is a status symbol. It's a super exclusive toy or the super wealthy. Having one shows your financial power as well as your good taste in cars.

A ZR1 or Ford GT? It's no contest. Even a Ferrari like a 488 GTB just doesn't have this pedigree. Just look at the market for the previous generation GT.

I get what your saying, but I would never buy a car as a status symbol. I don't care if it cost a thousand dollars or a million I just want the best feeling/performing car that is also aesthetically pleasing to me not all the fanboys. I'm not saying the new GT isn't all of those things, but as far as performance goes I'm sure there will be a few cars out that that are better and probably not as expensive. If I was going to pay an absurd amount for a ultra rare hyper car with plastic trim I'm throwing money at Chrysler for a ME4-12.

I guess I just find it funny/ ironic that ford is the American car maker to make something in the same class as the la Ferrari or Lamborghini veneno.

        Edit**
just read that it's going to have a TTv6. I hope that's not true...I pray ford does the American thing and drops an ungodly V8 that gets about 4MPG coasting downhill

A status is symbol is one of the biggest points of owning an exotic. I do get your point though.

They are using the Ecoboost V6 because they are taking it racing.

I think this is completely reasonable considering the market for the last GT and with the flipping people have been doing with the porsche 918.
The ecoboost v6 is going to be awesome and I'm more excited about this car than any of the other hyper/super cars coming out and I am far from a Ford fanboy.

I'm pretty sure that's not it. They will definitely pay attention if it's a previous generation GT owner.

As an enthusiast I agree but unfortunately you have a majority of tryhards/celebrities/etc that only care about something that screams LOOK AT ME. And they don't even know what an intake valve is.

The ME 4-12 would have been nasty...

Why? I disagree. No other car or manufacturer on the planet touches the Ford GT in the Texas mile. It's not the same class in fact it's superior.

I do agree they should have had a modular variant, the old 4V 5.4 was a monster nobody could touch.

Yes and no. They were going to race regardless but alot of this has to do with promoting Ecoboost as that's what Ford is becoming.

I agree but I am also looking forward to seeing more about the NSX.

Huh? White trash? Show me a non-domestic that competes with the Ford GT in the Texas mile. And look years ago when Ford came out with the GT40 and slapped around the Italians in 1 year. Ferrari was crying.

That's yes and yes. They are racing Ecoboost motors. Offroad and on road.

They are doing both but this is HUGE marketing for Ford if the car is successful.

I like to think that this is their way of getting the car into the hands of enthusiasts who want to buy it to drive it like it is meant to be driven, not to just sell it to some uber rich folk who have no qualms about dropping $400k+ just to say they own something while the car collects dust with 50 miles on the odometer for the next 10 years.
