• Volkswagen takes the WRC (world rally championship) title early in their inaugural season

Not really much of a surprise to see a Goliath like Volkswagen take the victory but it is impressive they did it in such dominating fashion in their inaugural season. Volkswagen has dominated to such a degree they agreed to freeze development on the car/program to give the competition a chance. If that does not say enough about how well Volkswagen's WRC effort has gone perhaps VW wrapping up the title early will.

Volkswagen's Sebastien Ogier won six out of ten rallies and only needed a single point at Rally France to wrap up the title. Ogier's jubiliation is easy to understand, “The feeling is impossible to describe. To have won the World Championship title in France is an absolute dream come true. As a little boy, I used to marvel at the cars and top drivers at the Rally Monte Carlo with my father in my home town of Gap – and now Julien and I are World Rally Champions."

Congratulations to Volkswagen for the title and also for competing like a class act. Additionally, Volkswagen is the first manufacturer to ever win the title in their inaugural season.
