APR releases Audi 2.5 TFSI HPFP (High Pressure Fuel Pump)

With the release of the APR TT-RS 2.5 TFSI Stage III Garrett GT35R turbo upgrade APR has also released a HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) upgrade that makes the fueling necessary to support over 600 horsepower at the wheels possible. In direct injected motors like the inline-5 2.5 TFSI engine very high fuel pressures are required and these requirements rise with horsepower often making fueling to go along with increased power a difficult tuning issue.

Hats off to APR who is able to deliver a HPFP upgrade (the BMW N54 market for example is still looking for a definitive upgrade in this area showing just how hard it is) able to flow enough fuel for almost a 300 wheel horsepower increase over stock.

APR's pump has a flow rate of 5250 cc/min compared to the stock ~4100 cc/min.

The price? $1,699.99 for a new pump or $1,199.99 for a rebuild. Just ask the BMW aftermarket if this is worth the price of admission.

If they stick with the ea888 2.0TSI (which they should since the mk7gti and golf r will have variants of it) they could potentially release an intake manifold with port injection, a secondary HPFP and external controller, which will all work in tandem OEM like. I mean it'll cost an ass load of money, but that could lead the way to 650+whp GTIs roaming the streets.

They can be cocky and the prices can be absurd but the 2005+ VW market would be nowhere with out them and they do make some solid stuff.

Also one very important thing to note. This HPFP is found on R8s, lambos and other VAG cars. The upgraded internals will also work on a variety of pumps making this a real game changer for plenty of cars.

    That's golden information right there.

So they use two of these in the V10 I take it?

Not 100% sure on the answer to that. But APR stated that these will fit the R8.

Makes sense, the 4.2 V8 has some fueling issues.

EVOMS has yet to solve them on their built motor turbo upgrade. It's suck in the rut the N54 is.

I pretty sure its the v10 seeing how its a variant of the FSI or the TSI engine engine.

I think they should stick with the FSI over the TSI unless they can get some of the more common issues fixed. We're seein big HP numbers from the FSI word, mine included but the TSI seems to be lacking with the ability to handle big power. Im excited to see what happens. Who woulda thought a little ole vw 4 cylinder would see 125hp+ per cylinder!

the TSI isn't having an issue handling big power. The only issue is fueling, NA HPFP are laser welded shut. since that's really only good to ~500-550whp with race and/or meth, they have to go port injection to make more power.

I don't think they'll spend much more time on the FSI as the EA888 TSI will be used in the mk7 R and GTI, so their focus will rightly shift there.

if APR got into the BMW market....i think a lot of companies now would lose business.
The things they could do with the n54 and e9x m3 though. We're talking OEM quality turnkey hardware and software. Though I don't think they would be a viable tuning alternative. Not when you have Burger, Vishnu and Cobb/PTF (and now bimmerboost flash) that allow for so much customization.
Unfortunately BMW owners seems to $#@! about pricing of things and when you build hardware in the US, you don't get cheap prices.

They have their niche though and excel in it.
