Cool idea! What if you live in an area that gets frequent downpours of rain? Anything to be concerned about?

How's the noise difference I notice that driving around to test changes having the cowl, filter and engine cover off it's quite a bit louder. Those things really keep out the Intake noise, turbo sounds and injector ticks.

I've had the cowls off our various development cars for years. Easier to hear what is going on in the engine bay from the drivers seat, better cooling, less weight, and easier access to the DME box & plugs. But every now and again a leaf will fall in or some water splash in and condense on the windshield. So these little mini vent filters are meant to help prevent that. They look a bit nicer too.

Testing them on our shop cars now and if all goes well we will move it over to production.

looks cool, but what's wrong with bolting the stock filter in, even if the cowl is missing?

seems light enough that the four bolts would hold it, no?

Nothing. I've tried it. But it's uglier and in the way. May pull the bolts out eventually also.

would these get dirty much faster?

now we just need a neater/prettier way of holding the wires in the black corro pipe... heck, the tubing is hideous >_<

could you make a small cowl to go over the top of those little filters just for peace of mind? not that it'd be hard to make something pretty yourself DIY... 3 bits of plastic each (or a bent bit of alu) would cover it nicely, slow down any errant rain fall from hitting it.

I just zip tie them to the strut braces. Works nicely. Only, I removed one of the strut braces awhile ago to make getting in the DME box even easier. Click here to enlarge

If you can leave black marks on a straight from the time you exit a corner till the time you brake for the next turn....... Then, you have enough horsepower.

Will this void my warranty? Does it pull timing on ACN91 with stock downpipes? Is it compatible with non BMW NA approved air fresheners? Wait, wrong forum...

Nice job. Clean, simple, great idea. Will purchase.
