The uglier, far less attractive in every aspect twin sister that you have to settle for because the other one is in such high demand.

The Ferrari's motor is a work of art in comparison.

Actually, the 458 Italia is just the best car on the planet right now, period.

I agree! and 124.4hp per liter speaks for itself! as well as 9,000rpm and 80% of its torque available from 3,250rpm, max torque being 400 lb ft.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the mp4-12c outperform the 458. It doesn't look as good but its numbers speak for themselves. Apx 600bhp and 443lb-ft available at 2000rpms and it revs to 8500. No exact figures on the weight yet but with the carbon fiber body i would expect it only to weigh a little over 3000lbs.

I personally think this car is going to beat the 458 based on its weight and power specs along with it carbon chassis. But I don't think it looks better and to the average consumer Mclaren has a less recognizable name. Hopefully it doesn't have spontaneous combustion on the feature list. I did get an invite to peep it out in Beverly Hills From Thursday Friday, Saturday but I'll be out of town for a wedding.

Based on the weight and power it better... but the Ferrari is no joke. Will be nice to see a direct comparison.

The 458 did 7:38 ring time.... As nice as the 458 is, it can not compare to the track performance the MP4-12C will offer...

The MP4-12C will be very very very to the 7:18 of the GT2 RS, if not better...

Here a vid with engine sound:

Yes, I heard the "street tires" thing. I dont think it would change the time by 20+ secs. People need to define what "street tires" are. Any "R" compound tires that are DOT approved, like the MPSC or Pirelli Corsa system, are street still street tires. I find it hard to believe that a 120+ HP per liter, $200K+ sportscar, would come with PS2 or P Zero Nero tires...

The Pirelli Corsas are same or faster per lap Vs the MPSC(in my experience), better in the rain, and more predictable(do not get greasy like MPSC). If the 458 had Pirelli Corsas, I dont see it going any faster with MPSC... except with Hoosiers R6, etc...

The Scuderia had a lap time of 7:39 and it had MPSC's.... The 458 may have 60 HP more, but the Scuderia weights 140 lbs less.....Think about it.

A 458 Scuderia version, may be good for about 10 secs faster lap, but at what price? $350k-$400K? Wasnt the Scuderia $100K over the F430?
