    First 9 second Porsche 911 Turbo on stock turbos - Champion Motorsport's GIAC tuned 997.2 Turbo S runs 9.8@135

    Wow, major achievement here and quite an improvement on what this car was doing previously which already was incredibly impressive. This vehicle previously hit 10.3@133 on stock turbos with full weight. Champion Motorsport gave the car some stickier rubber and the time improved quite a bit. How does [email]9.837@135 sound? On the stock turbos? With a full weight car? Well, to PorscheBoost that sounds absolutely incredible.

    Modifications are the same as the previous run with a GIAC tune, Werks1 airbox, Tubi race exhaust, and IPD plenum. The difference is the switch from street tires to drag radials in back. The 60 foot dropped 2 tenths to 1.425 which is quite an improvement. Keep in mind, this was achieved at Palm Beach International Raceway in Florida which is not one of the East Coast tracks where the cold weather and negative density altitude inflates times.

    Not really, it's just a stock turbo car with some supporting bolt-ons with race gas. EVOMS & Champion Motorsports both offers packages taking the car to ~600 WHP. The best part is the PDK can be upgraded, the real short coming with the 997.2 is the motor itself -- stock motor limits are 650 WHP(?), while the 997.1 can be taken up to 900 WHP before the rods give out.

    900 whp is pretty optimistic. People upgrade the rods when going past ~6XX whp or else one is asking for it.

    i was going to say, having done some reasearch on this, you start rolling the dice in the mid 600s.

    This week, one year on, Switzer’s SLEDGEHAMMER is still pulling strong, serving as the company’s 997 development mule and astonishing everyone with its engine’s longevity and durability. “Everyone who has been in this industry for a number of years is surprised by these cars,” says Tym. “Really, though, there’s no surprises here. When we reached 700 hp a year and a half ago, we were told the engines were time-bombs. Dozens of customer cars and literally thousands of road – and track! – miles later, the cars are still running strong. The P800 kit we introduced earlier this year proved that the limit wasn’t anywhere near 700 hp, and earlier this week, the original SLEDGEHAMMER came back to the shop and did back-to-back dyno pulls at 915 horsepower with nearly 800 lb-ft of torque. We’ve made some minor updates to the fuel system and standalone engine management system, but that’s still 50 hp and almost 100 lb-ft more than the car’s best numbers a year ago, and it’s still holding together. As expected. I think, more than anything, these huge power levels serve to show just how good the Porsche 997 Turbo is from the factory. As a tuner, you couldn’t ask for a better, stronger foundation. The real challenge has been to make the most of what’s already there.

    Shouldn't be a surprise since we have to forum members sitting at 800 WHP on their stock motor 996 Turbos with E85, Turbo & Fueling upgrades.

    M3ntals at 717, prodigymb is hitting 796 (he's running a different turbo setup) and the only thing I've heard break on that car are the clutch & gearbox (replacement gears from aggressive launching)


    I 100% agree that if you're going to invest big bills into your motor, internals aren't something you should look to skip/save money on (especially because you get the option to adjust the CR & increase boost), I'm just saying it CAN be done.

    I could have sworn he had rods or something? Regardless though from what I have seen going past 6XX has led to some failures. E85 may allow a little more due to the cooling timing benefit but the stock rods simply won't support reliable and retainable HP at the 800+ level. I mean it's just asking for trouble.
