2012 Volkswagen Beetle 2.0 Turbo DSG test numbers and curb weight - 0-60 in 6.4, 1/4 mile in firstname.lastname@example.org
The new Beetle is a good looking car and a reasonable value with its as tested price of $28,385. For a front wheel drive car with only 200 horsepower from its 2.0 turbocharged and direct injected four-cylinder performance is respectable. 60 miles per hour comes in 6.4 seconds and the 1/4 mile sprint takes 14.8 seconds with a trap speed of 94.3 which is slightly faster than a stock 2001 E46 BMW 330i which had 225 horsepower.
The performance is partially thanks to the DSG gearbox and partially thanks to the fairly low curb weight of 3,170 pounds. Respectable numbers and there is a lot more to be gained should one want it with tuning of the turbo motor.
Perhaps VW will give us the Beetle R they have been teasing to take the Beetle to the next level performance wise.

sounds about right, even in stock form there is a good amount of spin/hop when taking off hard
also, with TC on and in drive mode that means they weren't able to actually launch the car. The mk6 DSG GTIs with traction control off in sport/manual mode have a launch control.
Now get a 3" downpipe, intake and tune and this thing will see low 13s, and very high 12s with mounts, DR, weight reduction and race gas....not bad for a little bug.
