Get a Gallardo SL and be done sticky. Trust me on that one...prices have dropped and its a hell of a car...

And the engines are great. It's all the little stuff that would get you. When looking for mine I talked with Kevin a lot about the purchase (underground racing as we tune for them) I told him i was looking for a 04, he laughed and said maintenance nightmare.

04 had problems with egear pumps, 05 had problems with the nose lift going out

I think the SL is a bit too much money for me. I wouldn't be doing this until late next year though so maybe. Plus the forum is really getting rolling so I might be able to swing it.

You almost have to know someone to get a good one. When I was looking for the lambo, I found 3 of them that passed PPI but had MAJOR problems. Most of the luxury dealers are in well with the lambo dealers and can get a ton of stuff "passed" Your best bet is to get on the forums and find someone selling.

Parts are cheap. Well they aren't normal-car-like cheap, but it's not gonna cost you an arm for sure. If you do the maintenance yourself, it's not gonna cost just a little more than a M3's maintenance.

Every time i hear things like $2000 oil change or $6500 timing belt replace, i just can't stop laughing.

I'm imaging that with the TT kit on there, this becomes a (slightly) bigger headache. And 7,000 mile OEM changes, so that's down to 5,000 once you double the WHP.

Lol just saying, if I had a TT Gallardo, I'd be putting miles on that every chance I had and it 40+ outside. Those trips to Mexico can add up fast Click here to enlarge

Early Gallardos had issues with snappy handling at the limit. May not apply to drag racers, but sometimes you will want to zip that thing through the twisties!

Agreed, but you also have to closely watch things like gas etc. I have seen bad gas blow an engine right in front of me
