    VW Polo R WRC 2013

This is VW's entry to next year's WRC competition.
It's drivers will beSébastien Ogier, Jari-Matti Latvala and Andreas Mikkelsen
Under the hood is a 1.6 TSI delivering 315hp/425Nm.
The car weighs 1200 kg, which is the limit for the WRC FIA regulations.
It will sprint to 62mph in 3.9 seconds, and has a top speed of 200km/h, which in a rally it will probably not reach.

Volkswagen officially launches their WRC (World Rally Championship) Polo R Rally Car

Here is Volkswagen's WRC (World Rally Challenge) effort for 2013 courtesy of the Volkswagen Polo R WRC. VW devleoped this vehicle over a 17 month period and launched it this past week in Monaco. The car has a 6-speed sequential manual transmission and a 1.6 liter TSI four-cylinder motor which is limited to 300 horsepower courtesy of restrictors. Combine that power with a minimum weight of 2645 pounds and you have one very quick rally car.

Member of VW's Board of Management Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg stated, “The launch of the Polo R WRC, which is now ready and raring to go, heralds a new era in motorsport for Volkswagen: the FIA World Rally Championship offers Volkswagen the opportunity to prove its sporty qualities in an environment, in which our cars have always been at home: on real streets.”

Will be very interesting to see how Volkswagen does in the WRC.
