    Team Lethal Performance 2013 Shelby GT500 - 9.77 @ 148.80

Team Lethal Performance has its Shelby deep into the 9's as well now. Some info on the car:

If anyone has been following our build they know most of the mod list has been kept pretty quiet. However we have disclosed that the car does run a Nitrous Pro-Flow wet kit and it's been tuned by Lund Racing. Some additional information about the car is that it's full weight except for the front sway bar being removed and it's got 07 GT500 rear brakes. Other than that it's got everything else on it from the factory including the additional weight from the SVT Track Pack (Oil Cooler, Diff Cooler, Trans cooler pump).

We're running 100% stock suspension as well as the stock 3.31 gears. Stock rear end as well.

Another Mustang tuner, Evolution Performance, has claimed a 9.70 @ 148 boost only pass, but so far no videos are available.

I wonder what are the actual mods on the car. Like if they did any blower porting or just a pulley and tune + tires with nitrous?

Its sprayed... this is nothing that a Mustang hasnt seen before. The fact that it took so short is impressive but then again no Mustang in the past has come with a 5.8L sc motor.

The fact that ford motors can eat spray like men and not puke like a BMW motor is what I love. Spray a 150 shot on a beemer and the computer cries YSOMUCHNITROUS??

Just want to make something clear, the S54 handles a 150 shot direct port no problem and the S85 ran 10's with direct port nitrous.

BMW motors are stout it's just the idiotic culture that associates nitrous with rice and the fact that most BMW owners are giant pussies when it comes to serious modding.

The Ford GT doesn't seem to have any problems not to mention the Mustang handles pretty well.

WTF I need to get my head examined to get a more expensive car and dump 30k+ into it just to trap 150. These guys dump 3k into their sub-$60,000 car and trap 148...

you and your twin, 1 gets the gtr (im assuming) and the other gets the gt500, both to these specs (150/148)

    who wins?

if you win with the GTR, was it worth it? what about if you lose, still worth it?
what if you have the Ford?

who is happier? is it just about the win, or the car and its appeal+comoforts after the race..?

who wins? GT-R wins the race due to the shifting and the consistency as well as AWD laying down the rubber.

if you win with the GTR, was it worth it? what about if you lose, still worth it? Is the GT-R worth the extra $50k+? Hard to answer. It IS a great car. I had one already though so I want to move on. The GT-R is a lot of fun when you are going balls to the wall, 180mph around a curve, running against 700hp+ cars and beating them with 100 less horsepower (example). For the 95% of the time that I am not racing the GT-R, it is pretty boring. You really can't drift it unless you try hard. Can't do a burnout. It shifts for you so you can't have fun rowing gears. It is a dick magnet. And in the event something breaks (transmission), it will cost you over $10k so you always have that in mind. Unless you build the transmission and the motor and go with an Alpha 9/10 or something and feel like spending $50,000 in mods. At that point you will be trapping 150-160 on race gas consistently. Is it worth it? All depends on your goals and how you value the car. I had fun with my GT-R and enjoyed beating everybody I raced on the streets. I went through the experience already. I won't get another one since I got it out of my system and want something more fun to drive and something not as expensive. Something with more bang for your buck. Plus now a lot of my friends have GT-R's. The ones who race them are in the 9's and I don't want to get back into the GT-R and need to dump 40-50k in to compete with them, again, when I already beat them last year lol. I got out on top ;-)

what if you have the Ford? If I lose in the Ford, I go home knowing I only spent $5,000 in mods. I will bring it back to the shop, put a larger blower on it, get some forged pistons and rods, and for a few thousand dollars more, I'll come back and have a rematch.

who is happier? is it just about the win, or the car and its appeal+comoforts after the race..?
That is always the big question. I think at this point I would rather own an all out race car (while still keeping it streetable and looking pretty) and having another luxury car, than trying to combine the both since that gets very expensive and you often come short of your goals anyway. You either need to compromise the luxury, or you compromise the performance. A guy I know gutted his GT-R so he can get in the 8's. Will he reach that goal? Probably, yeah. Is it worth hacking up a GT-R? Not in my opinion. I'd rather get the GT500, build it for a fraction of a built GT-R price, make it a hardcore street/track weapon, and buy a CTS-V or something and chill. Just my opinion from a guy who has owned, driven, and raced a bunch of cars.
    See BOLD above.

right, thats how i feel, but just wanted to pose the question. Im much happier in the M than a previous car that was faster. of course, not on THAT level of performance. For me, if i were to want to go to that next level, id get the gt500... or if the 14 vette looks like the rendering..

Its a tough quandry as the performance is tremendous, thats taking out the cost of it. Add it back in and its very attractive IMO

I've owned Porsche's, Ferrari's, BMW's, Audi's and so on. For me the GT500 has a nice interior comparatively and its fully functional to boot. Its not as sexy as say a Audi's interior. But it has the technology I want in a car like the Recaro's, My Sync, Nav, Glass roof and so on. I wont say its a lush or plush but I personally dont really need all that. I enjoy the comfort of my M Sport 328Xi escpecially the rare color combo I have. But the GT500 is just as comfy and balls out faster for me.

I too love the GTR and seriously looked to buy one this year, I drove 3 variations of the car and even took one home for a night. But its too automated and sophisticated to the point any idiot can be fast in one. The GT500 will require my skill and concentration to row gears and put the power down. It wont be balls out as fast out the hole. But its more fun and for me the fun matters.

I say buy the GTR roll it for a year or two then get a GT500 or vice versa. Variety is the spice of life and its why I have owned over 80 cars to date.
