Some pics of my garage build

Some guys think I am crazy to take on this project so let the games begin.

Innocent looking 335 in the background.

All the pipes removed and only the harness left. I decided to unplug the harness at the ECU and remove it when the motor is out.

Today I am pulling the motor and box which are held in place by four bolts at the moment. All in all its taken me 3 and a half hours with a lot of messing around in between. Will post pics later tonight.

I am avoiding workbenches etc. As I am going to build a "his" with a dyno so will get the right stuff to outfit it and this will be the "hers".

You can solve that problem in one purchase, i was researching buying a dyno and DJ offers one with a lift. not the best for tuning, but iirc you already have a place to do that. BUT, also perfect for actual pre/post dynos since you can swap mods w/o taking the car off and do actual same day/ conditions

A hour and a half including waiting for the oil to be removed. With a pump to remove the oil and focus I am sure it can be done in less than a hour.

You removed the oil to avoid leaking and getting it all over your tranny, right?

Can you do me a favor, can you weigh your transmission or me?

I'm also going to send my tranny to Weistec and need to choose a proper shipping vendor and need to know the weight.

You need to drain the oil as you will be disconnecting the pipes for the transmission cooling and the oil is going to spill out regardless. In some countries you are not allowed to ship items that have oil in them so its best it gets drained thoroughly. Some countries also only allow new components, I am hoping to get around this. I will have it boxed up tomorrow and weighed but its 95kg with torque converter and 90kg without over this will be the packaging weight. Weistec has weighed them and those are the figures I was given. I am using DHL Express to ship.

Thanks for the info. My MCT does not have a TQ converter, so it should weigh less

looool. True, but remember I'm shipping international. My car is in Qatar and DHL are the worst in terms of cost and deleviry time. Now that I roughly have an idea about the weight I think I know the right vendor.

Btw, how much is it costing you to ship it to weistec domestically?

George - you could also check out Delta Cargo. I've shipped some very large items with them internationally and have been very impressed with their services. Same day shipment cuts down on shipping times greatly - take a look:

Thanks, will check them out. I am not in a rush as I am going on holiday for a month and a half and the car is going to the body shop for the widebody. ETA on project is to have the charger on by end of October.
