    Ferdinand Porsche dies at 76

    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/06/au...rated-911.html

FA Porsche, designer of the original 911 died today. Sad news for the automotive community. May he rest in peace. Amazing that so many aspects of his design have remained unchanged.
Never thought I would see the day...

Creator of the iconic Porsche 911, Ferdinand A. Porsche, passes away at 76

All good things must eventually come to an end. PorscheBoost salutes the life of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche who passed away today in Austria at the age of 76. Engineering was in his blood as his grandfather, who some of you may know as Ferdinand Porsche senior, created the Volkswagen Beetle. His father, Ferry Porsche, founded the sportscar company using his last name that we all know today. Not a bad automotive lineage to say the least.

Even one day the 911 will come to an end. The fact remains Ferdinand left a mark on the automotive world and with automotive enthusiasts that is unparalleled. How many other automotive engineers can say their design outlived them? He will be missed.
