I'm looking forward to the heads up competition between the two cars: 12' ZL1 vs 12' GT500. I'm sure it's obvious, I think the ZL1 will win in every category. Can't wait to find out.

The only doubt I have about the 13' GT500 being such a great handling car and putting up great track times is the lack of attention the Super Snake receives in the handling category. Am I wrong here? Is the Super Snake really impressive on the road courses? I looked up on Google, but couldn't find much.

Great article on ring times(basic premise, there are no rules!):
    http://www.speedsportlife.com/2008/1...itter-porsche/

Also one needs to remember that GM leased out the entire ring for 2 weeks running the zl1 for marketing purposes. Hundreds of laps for two weeks and no traffic...it was not showroom stock!
GM has found the perfect niche marketing. Ship cars to Europe, close course, have nobody there to verify independently what's been done to a car and then put a video on YouTube and watch the internet go. I'm not saying the car didn't run the number they claim it did, but nobody spends the time and effort to produce numbers at the Ring GM does because they know it's cheap advertising for the internet, and that started back with the original C5 Z06. I have heard that GM "has cheated" with pretty much every car they've ever sent to the Ring. Hand shaved tires on the C5 Z06, underweight and extra downforce on the CTS-V...if they are doing it with one, they are doing it with all of them...if they are doing something someone with a big mouth blabs at a bar, they are doing worse. There's no question the car is fast, but I put little to no stock in Ring times, especially when it's a benchmark of how much fun something is to drive...
Did find this, you can take it for what its worth. Again I dont believe these are showroom stock times....
Both cars were running mid 7 minute laps, the red GT500's best was said to be 7:30ish and the black 500 was 7:40ish. I personally seen a 7:35 and a 7:43 from them. Both cars were said to have major brake upgrades so not sure if these times will stick. I imagine that a 165mph top speed was needed to break a mid 7 minute lap so if the production cars are limited then there is no way they can replicate those times.

I gotta run, I'm over at Hockenheim right now. I will get into the Camaro5 ban on the way home.

Edit: There is a local here with a Boss 302 LS and wasn't impressed. He claims he can Ring in 7:45 with the LS... Who knows... These times were under almost perfect conditions, 64 degrees and almost no traffic.

I just went from an electric BMW with a power dome hood, to this. This is what makes me have hope for the auto industry - this is literally awesome stuff. If they could push this out the door for under 60k, it would be one hell of a deal.

I dont think it will come under 60k. But you know what, 70k for this car is still a steal. I waiting for this car.

I don't see why it wouldn't be under 60k starting.

No idea on ring times, though the 2013 model was seen doing a bit of testing there this year. In any case the 2011 is more than a match for the incoming ZL1 with the 2013 being a nightmare for ZL1 IMO. Now I will admit being biased having owned 20 Mustangs over the years. But this 2013 car really speaks for itself so far, I imagine the test results will be impressive no matter how you shape it. I would like some ring times for a reference however to see how it stacks up in the performance car world. I looked at Drag times and found 3 2011 cars with times in the low 12"s and trapping in the mid to high teens. I looked up some articles and found some similar times from magazines as well.

The below article is from Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords and shows the car running 12.0@118mph as a best pass. Along with a horrible 14 sec pass as well.
    http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co...r/viewall.html

    Car & Driver runs a 2011 GT500 at 12.4@117mph
    http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...t500-road-test

    Motor Trend gets a 12.35@115mph

My guess from my contacts is a fully loaded coupe will hit around $60K with Verts likely over that number... Its in the ordering system for Ford currently I spec'd one yesterday but again no actual price yet.

They ran the all stock 2010 gt500 in much better weather to a tune of 1.912 11.951 @ 120.29
The 2010 gt500 is about 100lbs heavier than the 11/12 models.

I think the order bank will open mid to end of january.
Pricing around a month after the order bank...
I think the pricing for a fully loaded Track pak is gonna be 60-62 MAX...
I'll be trading my 11 GT500 for one...

My contacts at Ford say to expect a base MSRP in the $50-52K range with the fully optioned Coupes running just north of $60k give or take a few bucks... I am told I could likely order my stripeless coupe with the cooling pkg and track pkg for around $56K or so
