good to see that good old fashion RWD 6 speed cars still can rape! I still want to buy a Z06 and now that you can get them with the ZR1 suspension it becomes tempting!

oh and yeah maybe another driver could shave off a few seconds!?!?!?!? This guy is a beast!

And look at this special edition interior...not too shabby!

WOW! What an upgrade in interior quality. Looks much better, specially the steering wheel. I like it a lot.

Wow very impressive time. I am more impressed with this drive than with his ZR1 drive. This run was only 3 seconds off the ZR1 which supposedly has a ton more track capabilities and horsepower. This has my thumbs up.

MUCH better interior but it still is a pile of crap inside. Still, I could live with that.

The thing is barely any slower than a ZR-1 and is an all motor 7.0 liter that revs to 7000 RPM that is much cheaper. It's a no brainer for me...

    to add:

This Z06 Corvette was equipped with the Z07 package which includes all the best bits from the ZR1, including Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, Chevrolet’s Performance Tracking Management, Magnetic Selective Ride Control and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Zero Pressure tires; the same super-sticky street-legal tires that the ZR1 was equipped with on its record ride.

Sport Cup tires are good to shave at least 20 seconds of your lap time in the Nurburgring.

but know they are not regular MPSC tires they are Run Flats, not supposed to be as good as the regular ones that come on the GT2 RS, GT3 and other cars

20 seconds from tires alone is a stretch, the other parts played a factor as well as the driver.

20k is 20k. You could spend that on mods for the Z06 and rape the ZR1 even more. All the ZR1 right now has on the Z06 is the HP. I'd rather take the 7 liters of death and the badass N/A.

It isn't even all that of a performance difference for the HP and the Z06 has displacement and revs.

    They both awesome, no doubt.

The more I think about it the more the Z06 and ZR1 impress me. Those times are INSANE!!! just look at how much more expensive other cars with higher numbers and and lower numbers cost. Also, these cars are not just for racing, you can actually DD them comfortably, which is even more impressive.

Whoa, looks like he gets air at 1:20-1:22!

    Consistent 1.3G turns....

LS7 to play with that is VERY easy to take apart and mod....

Sounds like a good buy to me!

when I hit the ring at day one my best lap time in a stock E46 M3 was 8:41
the day after that i switched to slick tires, on my first and last attempt i shove 19 seconds of that time.

Next day, you were more familiar with the course, etc.

It just depends. There are lap times listed that don't gain 20 seconds with R compounds.

I shaved 4 seconds off my best AutoX time in a C5 Z06 by going from PS2s to Hoosier A comps. And thats only a 50-60second course. I have two years of experience too.

Those tires are just amazing. I literally had bruises on the sides of my knees from the cornering G's. I had to use my knees to brace myself because the stock seats suck.

liked the vid thanks, even with the few errors he made he still shaved off a considerable amount of time, if he made a perfect run he could have bested the zr1, what do you guys think? also, on the back straight, it seemed like he had no top end, after 150 he was accelerating so slowly! 150-160 took forever, and with the help of the downhill portion after the final hill he barely touched 170. my bet is he had a helluva front lip to keep major downforce for the cornering, which is why he was able to pull 1.3 g turns with 1.5 spikes, but that killed him at high speed on the straight.
