Numbers are at the wheels on a Dynojet 248 chassis dyno. This thing is putting out 50 wheel more than the M3...

Having owned 3 Mustangs in the past I'm really happy to see Ford cranking out some power for the "GT" Mustang crowd.

Here is another dyno. It doesn't achieve the same 395 RWHP as Edmunds but it does confirm that these cars are underrated from the factory.

This may be a fun $#@!s and giggles summer project car. The Al block in the 2011 GT500 will help handling tremendously but the N/A 5.0L/4v is a badass motor and it's 3600lbs. H/C/Tune/Full Exhaust and they will be potent cars.

Wow, imagine with a set of cams, headers/rest of exhaust and a twin-screw blower with a 93 tune. I would guess at least 500whp.

2.3L TS is good for 670-700rwhp on 93 octane. 2.8L is good for 800rw, the new liquid cooled KB 3.6s are good for 870rw+ on 93. Had one on the dyno last week. These were on GT500s, however the displacement difference doesn't mean anything since the blower is the limiting factor and the 5.0L revs 500-700rpm higher (pre/post tune).

    Solid motors for sure.

Will the new GT and GT500 share internals?

They share nothing. The new 5.0L is a cleansheet design based on existing 4.6L modular architecture meaning they share bore spacing and lessons learned from the 4.6s were applied to the 5.0L. A 5.4L Modular is simply a stroked 3.55x4.165" vs 3.55"x3.55" (4.6L) using a block with taller deck height.

    Thanks

What? That doesn't make sense. If you are looking purely for performance, I'm pretty sure you can make a $30,000 Mustang GT with $30,000 in mods destroy a stock $60,000 M3 in acceleration, braking and handling. Also, it is not a stupid car, there just happens to be some stupid people driving them, as with any car. I guess you are hoping everyone will leave the new Mustang stock, and even then it seems it will be more dependent on the driver this time around.
